At the foot of the mighty Drei Schwestern Chain, the car-free Fürstenweg on the edge of the forest runs along the same path and connects the elevated residential areas of Schaan and Vaduz - a wonderful local recreation area.

The Princely Trail begins at Planknerstrasse near the Forstwerkhof and after only a few steps we find ourselves in the shady and quiet forest with its many different plants. Right at the start, the memorial for forest workers who died in accidents and the “Waldkappele” or Forest Chapel are good places to pause and reflect. After a few minutes walk we cross two ridges (scree and alluvial deposits). Following a path that passes through pine woods, we reach the uppermost houses of Vaduz and can descend directly via Rüfeweg to Landstrasse (Alternative route) or through the villa district to the Red House and finally to the Städtle district of Vaduz.

Alternative route
Via Rüfeweg to Vaduz

Author’s recommendation

Detour to Iraggell and Wildschloss or along Bergweg to Alpila.

Family tip: Barbecue areas at the Dux children's playground above Schaan or below the Bannholz forester's lodge in Vaduz.
