The Seen-Route, or Lakes Route, takes you on a journey across Switzerland in all of its postcard perfection. It offers stunning views of larger and smaller lakes, but also of the Alps and its foothills.
The route passes 16 lakes, doing justice to its name. The last stage goes from Buchs through the St.Gallen Rhine Valley to Rorschach. Your exertions along the strenuous final stage are rewarded by beautiful views and flower-filled meadows, bird-watching paradises and pilgrimage spots. The paved path along the flood dyke makes it an easy ride through the Rhine Valley while the river delta beckons with the expanse of Lake Constance in the distance.
The tour comes to a wonderful end at the Rorschach bathhouse where you can take a refreshing swim in the lake or enjoy coffee and cake, beer or wine.
In good weather, a strong wind blows up the Rhine Valley in the afternoon, but, during the Föhn, a warm southerly autumn breeze, the wind blows down the valley.
A1 from St.Gallen in the direction of Rorschach/Rheineck. Continue on the A1 to Buchs.
